Legionella Risk Assessments and control measures are a requirement to achieve compliance with UK law and the Health and Safety Executive L8 Approved Code of Practice requirements.

A Legionella Risk Assessment is a requirement under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

- All businesses with 5 or more employees MUST commission a Legionella risk assessment on their water systems and carry out regular reviews.

- LEGIONELLA is a naturally occurring bacteria that can become prevalent in man-made water systems.

- LEGIONELLOSIS is caused by the inhalation of contaminated airborne water particles via aerosol release. eg. showers, spray outlets

- CONTROL MEASURES are determined by the legionella risk assessment and associated guidance eg. HSG274 Parts 1 -3, HSG282, BS8580-2019, etc.

- Residential Landlords also have LEGAL responsibility to ensure the health and safety of tenants.

- Failure to comply with the legal requirements surrounding Legionella can result in PROSECUTION.
